Nongpoh, Aug 14: Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit, who is also the Vice-Chairperson of the State Committee on Public Grievances, inspected the condition of the office of the District Transport Officer here today.
Khymdeit’s visit follows on from numerous complaints received from shopkeepers and the public regarding the various deficiencies in the office, which has been described as dilapidated.
The most pressing issues are the dilapidated state of the office building, the lack of proper toilets, insufficient water supply and damaged shops affected by water leaks. Khymdeit assured that she would take up the matter with the government to find ways to renovate and beautify the office and ensure it also benefits the shopkeepers during market days.
Khymdeit, in her capacity as Vice-Chairperson of the public grievances committee, has already met with the Transport Minister to raise concerns over the DTO office.
