Shillong, Mar 15: Former Chief Executive Member of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Madonbai Rymbai MDC, has partially blamed the ongoing financial crisis in the council on the administration’s failure to collected taxes from large cement plants run by non-tribals.
The Amwi Khliehtyrshi MDC urged the Executive Committee to formulate new projects via the central government, citing his own efforts during his tenure as CEM when he brought in projects worth Rs 18 crore, including the construction of the new council building.
He also stressed the need to promote tourism through the Myrkeiñ Protection Forest and urged the EC to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to avail central assistance.
Rymbai, of the Congress Party, also called for the quick completion of projects like the Iawmusiang Shopping Complex to provide financial benefits to the council and the Jaiñtia people.
