Four pressure groups from Jaiñtia Hills comprising of KSU, FKJGP, HNYF and Jaiñtia Students Movement (JSM) have today asked all coal traders from outside the State to leave the coal mining areas East Jaiñtia Hills within two days.
The decision was taken today at a meeting held in Lad Rymbai, East Jaiñtia Hills.
According to the four pressure groups, the coal traders locally known as Monsi used to purchase coal and also load the mineral in their own trucks depriving locals of employment from coal trade.
The pressure groups also alleged that the price of coal in Beltola and Byrnihat has come down due to the involvement of Monsi in coal trade and transportation.
“The livelihood of local people including labourers has been snatched by these Monsi. We have given them a deadline to leave East Jaiñtia Hills by January 7 and if they fail to do so we will resort to action to make them leave,” the four pressure groups said.
They also requested all local coal traders to cooperate in order to curb the entry of coal traders from outside the State in East Jaiñtia Hills.
