The state government has constituted a committee to study the Indian Registration Act to understand if there is a legal basis for various organisations not recognising land holding certificates and no-objection certificates (NOCs) issued by Meghalaya’s district councils.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the state government has to follow the Indian Registration Act but certain hurdles have cropped up along the way.
Hence, the government has constituted the committee to study the Indian Registration Act to make sure that the documents issued by the district councils are honoured by any institution.
