Shillong, Jul 25: The Dealer Association of Ampati has written to the state government over the reported non-arrival of rice rations for July across the whole of South West Garo Hills.
In a letter, the association said that, as of Friday, no suppliers or wholesalers have conducted the monthly rice distribution process this month. “This has led to significant confusion and hardship for both FPS (fair price shop) dealers and the beneficiaries, who have been visiting fair price shops daily with the expectation of receiving their entitled ration,” the letter read.
Despite repeated follow-ups and inquiries there has been no communication or explanation from the suppliers and wholesalers. “This lack of transparency and coordination is affecting the smooth functioning of the Public Distribution System (PDS) and damaging public confidence in the system,” the association said.
