      Editor,

I am writing to draw attention to a pressing issue that has been affecting the residents of Bangalkata (Bisontoli) in the Phulbari Legislative Assembly constituency. For the past five days, our area has been experiencing a complete electricity outage, causing significant inconvenience and disruption to daily life.

It is particularly disheartening that this situation is occurring in the constituency of the Power Minister of Meghalaya, Mr. A T Mondal. Notably, Mr. Mondal received the highest number of votes in the recent Assembly election from this area, reflecting the trust and expectations of the constituents in his ability to address such critical issues.

The prolonged lack of electricity has affected various aspects of our lives:

      1. Household Disruption: Essential household activities such as cooking, cleaning, and even basic lighting have been severely impacted.
      2. Education: Students are unable to study or attend online classes, especially during this critical period of academic sessions.
      3. Health and Safety: The outage has raised concerns about the safety of the elderly and ill that rely on electrical devices for their health needs. Additionally, the lack of street lighting has increased the risk of accidents and other safety issues during the night.
      4. Economic Impact: Small businesses that depend on electricity are facing losses, and daily wage workers are also affected due to the disruption in work.

Despite multiple complaints to the local electricity board and relevant authorities, there has been no resolution or communication regarding the restoration of power. The residents feel neglected and are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of action.

We appeal to the concerned authorities, especially Mr. A T Mondal, to urgently address this issue and restore electricity to our area. The prompt intervention would not only alleviate our immediate problems but also reinforce the trust of the constituents in their elected representatives.

We hope that through your esteemed publication, this matter will gain the necessary attention and prompt a swift resolution.

Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
