Groups under the Save Hynñiewtrep Mission fears injustice if the Mukroh killing is being tried in West Karbi Anglong.
Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC), general secretary Roy Kupar Synrem said if CBI probe is being ordered for the incident then the case or the FIR should be registered with the West Jaintia Hills district and the guilty Assam police and forest guards who participated in the killing villagers be arrested and prosecution to be done in Meghalaya.
“There will be no justice. If it is tried within West Karbi Anglong then it means that we have already given away Meghalaya to Assam,” Synrem said.
He said that State government should make the demand from the centre.

It may be mentioned that the villagers who died at the Mukroh firing have been identified as Thal Shadap (45), Nikasi Dhar (65), Sik Talang (55), Tal Nartiang (40) and Chirup Sumer (40). The dead Assam forest guard has been identified as Bidya Singh Lehte.
