Shillong, Mar 23: The inauguration of an executive programme on kids wear garment construction was held yesterday at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Shillong.
This programme is organised by the Department of Commerce and Industries under the RAMP initiative, a flagship programme of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, co-sponsored by the World Bank, in partnership with NIFT Shillong.
Moonlander Wanshnong, Joint Director of Commerce and Industries, was the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the significance of this programme in empowering the textile and garment sector in Meghalaya, particularly focusing on the niche segment of kids wear garment construction.
Rimi Das, Joint Director of NIFT, encouraged the trainees to be sincere and open to learning the technical aspects of the trade throughout the programme tenure.
The programme aims to build capacity and enhance skills among 25 entrepreneurs and artisans. It is envisioned as a platform for knowledge exchange, creativity and collaboration to produce high-quality, market-ready products that celebrate the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the region, a press release stated.
