The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) said that work is going on a war footing on the stretch of National Highway-6 from Jowai to Ratacherra which is about 102.255 km in length.
The NHAI said this in an affidavit filed before the division bench of Meghalaya High Court today.
Similarly, NHAI lawyer S Sengupta told the High Court that the work is going on a war footing to repair and construct the said portion of the highway.
However, S Panthi, the Amicus Curiae, told the court that though work is going on, “no noticeable change has been noticed”.
The court also fixed the matter for hearing on November 6 for further orders and response by the Amicus Curiae (Panthi). It also gave liberty to him to conduct his own inspection of the project.
National Highway-6 from Jowai to Ratacherra is being constructed by two contractors namely Purvanchal Buildtech Pvt Ltd and Dhar Construction Company.
