The United Hynñiewtrep Movement’s East Jaiñtia Hills unit (UHM-EJH) has pleaded with the state government to intervene in the atrocious condition of National Highway 6, especially the stretch between Sumer in West Jaiñtia Hills and Malidor in East Jaiñtia Hills.
Massive potholes on the road greatly extend travel times, cause damage to vehicle and injuries and even loss of life to travellers, UHM-EJH president Brosenly Siangshai said in a release today. He added that it is an embarrassment to call NH-6 a National Highway of India.
The pressure group appealed to the Chief Minister and to the two MLAs from East Jaintia Hills, Kyrmen Shylla and Santa Mary Shylla, to assume responsibility in getting the highway fixed.
