North Garo Hills police today arrested five persons and recovered two stolen bikes meant to be transported to Bangladesh from Rongara, South Garo Hills district.
The arrested persons are Rockystar M Sangma, Sanstar A Sangma both of Dabigiri, Fozirul Haque of Goalpara, Rofiqul Ali (also known as Nabar Ali) of Matia and Rakibul Islam of Kamrup.
North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao said acting on a missing bike report from Matia police station under Goalpara, Assam a joint operation was conducted that led to the recovery of two motorcycles bearing registration numbers AS-18 K 3422 and AS 01 FF 1309 from Wageasi and Gairong Bazaar.
“It has been revealed that the stolen motorcycles were planned to be transported to Rongara for delivery to Bangladesh,” the SP said.
He said all individuals have been formally handed over to the officer-in-charge of Matia Police station, Goalpara for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
“This successful operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies in combating vehicle theft and reinforcing safety within the community. The police encourage the public to report any suspicious activities to further assist in maintaining public safety,” Vasantrao said.
