A baby girl was found abandoned at Nondeiñ in Nongstoiñ under West Khasi Hills district today.
The body of the newborn was found wrapped in a plastic carry bag at a culvert near a residential house located near the Meghalaya Rural Bank.
According to a FIR lodged by a woman who first found the body, foul smell had emanated from the area for the past two to three days and did not suspect anything. It was until she could not bear the smell anymore that she went and have a look to only discover a baby inside.
She suspected somebody must have thrown the baby at a culvert nearby their house.
Meanwhile, police are investigating into the case.
