The Education Department has decided to follow a new procedure for authentication of educational documents and educational certificates of students or persons from the State planning to pursue higher education or seek employment outside India.
According to a recent order, for educational documents such as degree or diploma certificates issued by State universities and Central universities located within the State and educational institutions affiliated to them, the authorised officer of the Education Department will authenticate the documents or certificates after verifying with the concerned university and educational institution.
For educational documents such as degree or diploma certificates issued by private universities located within the State and established under the relevant act enacted by the State Assembly, the authorised officer of the Education Department shall not authenticate the documents or certificates.
The authorised officer will however after necessary verification certify that the private university is genuine and established under the relevant act enacted by the State Assembly. The officer will also certify that the document has been authenticated by the issuing authority and vetted by the Meghalaya Private Universities Regulatory Board.
