The Rani Bari Health Sub-Centre, located under Jirang block in Ri-Bhoi, was formally opened yesterday by Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sutun.
This sub-centre will benefit people from 12 border villages in the Rani Bari area. Through this facility, residents of the region will no longer have to travel as far as Warmawsaw, Patharkhmah, or even across to Assam for medical care during times of illness, as they can now access some healthcare services closer to home.

The Sub Centre at Rani Bari will be managed and overseen by Carona Trust, which will be responsible for its administration and operations.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sohtun expressed his deep happiness at being able to fulfill a long-cherished dream. He shared that establishing this Sub Centre had been one of his key promises to the people during his campaign in the 2018 elections, and he was delighted to have kept his word.
He also acknowledged and thanked the government, especially Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, under whose leadership the state has witnessed significant development initiatives that have greatly benefited the people of Meghalaya as a whole, and particularly the Jirang Constituency.
In conclusion, Shri Sohtun highlighted his satisfaction at having been able to set up the Sub Centre right close to the Assam border — a clear and visible testament that this area belongs within the state of Meghalaya.
