The Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Border Area, under Raid Nongtung in Ri-Bhoi, came together today to honour the newly appointed Border Magistrate for Block 2, Raja Brahma, who also serves as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district.
The Synjuk was led by its president, Blikstar Sohtun, and attended by various headmen representing villages in the border region of Raid Nongtung.
The post of border magistrate is important given its responsibility in maintaining peace and harmony along the disputed Meghalaya-Assam border.
During the felicitation event, the headmen took the opportunity to submit a memorandum to Brahma urging him to consider and implement various border-related schemes that could benefit the villages located in the sensitive border region.
