The Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care and General Medicine at NEIGRIHMS in collaboration with the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) organised a ‘transformative outreach programme’ on November 18, a press release stated today.
The event featured a ‘Basic Mechanical Ventilation and Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop’, drawing 110 doctors across various medical colleges and hospitals in the North East with expert faculty from the ISCCM headed by its president Prof Sheila Myatra of the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
Prof KG Lynrah, Professor of General Medicine, welcomed the gathering which was presided by Director of NEIGRIHMS, Prof Nalin Mehta, and the chief guest, Director General of Police Lajja Ram Bishnoi.
ISCCM Shillong branch chairperson Dr E Sohkhia, secretary Dr I Tiewsoh and other members provided free Basic Life Support (BLS) training for 85 Meghalaya police personnel.
Bishnoi expressed gratitude to ISCCM and NEIGRIHMS for organising a successful BLS training workshop for the police. He shared insightful statistics on the challenges faced by police personnel, underscoring the importance of such training programs.
