Shillong, Mar 5: The 16th annual day and graduation ceremony for MBBS and nursing students was celebrated at NEIGRIHMS today.
Dean of NEIGRIHMS, Dr Animesh Mishra, congratulated the graduate students and advised them to incorporate medical professionalism while working in society. Dr Mishra also administered the physician’s pledge to the medical students.
Dr Nalin Mehta, Director of NEIGRIHMS, highlighted that Indian doctors are respected all over the world for their competency and knowledge. He suggested that the intelligence acquired should be put into ethical practice maintaining the dignity and autonomy of patients. Dr Mehta congratulated the graduates and expressed his confidence that they will serve the nation in future with best healthcare practices and research in medical science.
The chief guest on the occasion was Prof Vedprakash Mishra, Honorary Pro-Chancellor from Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER), Wardha, Maharashtra.
Mishra delivered his oration highlighting Indian medical education where he extolled the transformative medical education that India has adopted over the last two decades. Mishra emphasised the objectives like competency, confidence, concern and compassion as a base for generating international standards in medical education across India.
