The North-Eastern Hill University’s Teachers Association (NEHUTA has called on the varsity to fast-track action against the Assistant Sports Director who has been accused of harassing a woman on campus.
Nantu Das was accused of molestation of a woman official at the Kiang Nangbah guest house recently. The victim was supposed to accompany the women’s sports team for an inter-university tournament to be held in Odisha.
In a release today, NEHUTA said that Das appears to be a serial offender given the number of subsequent complaints against him and that there is a “misogynist work and sporting environment” in NEHU.
Das, who is also in charge of security on campus, has been taken into custody. Although separate police inquiries are ongoing, NEHUTA called on the university to speed up its own inquiry ” so that such predators cannot return to service and spoil the environment further.”
