Shillong, Mar 3: Registrar in-charge of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura campus Prof. Kailash Chandra Biswa was attacked by masked men at Mawlai bypass.
Police said the incident happened yesterday at around 5 pm when Prof Biswal was returning from NEHU Shillong and heading towards Guwahati.
A group of about five masked persons threw stones at the vehicle.
The assailants, reportedly around five in number, hurled stones at his vehicle. Local residents who were present in nearby shops rushed out and the attackers fled.
Prof Biswal sustained injuries on his head and immediately rushed to NEIGRIHMS Hospital for further medical examination.
Police have said a case is being registered, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.
