A webinar on the life and contributions of Deendayal Upadhyaya was held here today at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU).
The programme was organized by the NEHU Incubation Centre, NEHU’s Deendayal Upadhyaya Community College for Skill Development, Wahiajer, and the Shillong chapter of the Indian Science Congress Association.
The programme was attended by more than 100 participants from all over Meghalaya. The guest of honour was Nagaland Assembly legislator Mmhonlumo Kikon of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Upadhyaya was a Hindutva ideologue and leader of the BJP’s forerunner, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Speakers included Hemant R Kushwaha, the Coordinator at Innovation and Incubation at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, who highlighted the principle of integral humanism defined as classless, casteless and conflict-free social order with integration of indigenous ‘Indian culture’ with the social political and economic fabric of the nation.
