North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is at the lower end of the rankings of the 100 best universities in India.
The ranking was done by EduRank based on research outputs, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence. EduRank, a private ranking body, judges an academic institution based on three factors: research output, non-academic reputation and the impact of notable alumni.
The ranking helps students know about the academic excellence of a university they are seeking admission to.
As per the ranking which was announced last week, NEHU was ranked at the 93rd position.
The first position was bagged by IIT Kharagpur. It was followed by Delhi University in the second position and Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru in third spot. IIT Bombay was ranked at the fourth position and IIT Delhi in fifth position.
Among the universities of the North East that figured in the ranking included IIT Guwahati at the 44th position, Gauhati University at 45th spot, Dibrugarh University at 94th rank and Assam University, Silchar at 95th rank.
EduRank also provides a subject-wise ranking of academic institutions the world over. In the ranking, as many as 14,178 universities from America, Europe, Asia, and Africa have been ranked.
