A blood donation camp under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was organised by NEEPCO today in collaboration with the Regional Blood Bank, Pasteur Institute.
Around 20 donors including three women came forward to donate blood and a few other rare blood group donors were registered for emergency donation.
Specialist of the Regional Blood centre, Dr BG Myrthong delivered an awareness talk on the benefits of blood donation and dispelled myths,taboos and beliefs hampering voluntary donation while stressing the fact that the voluntary blood donation scenario is promising in Meghalaya amongst the younger generation.
NEEPCO Director (F) B Maharana, Samiran Goswami ED(C), other officers and employees, Dr Rahul Koch of the centre, Dr Saumya Shankar Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager, Medical Services were also present during the programme.
