The Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and MDC for Sohryngkham, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, has urged the state government to set up a health sub-centre at Mawlong Saisiej.
In a letter submitted to new Health and Family Welfare Minister James Sangma today, Syiem said that this was a long pending demand of the residents of the area.
Urging the Health Minister to address the difficulties faced by the residents, the KHADC Chairman said, “The setting up of the sub-centre will benefit the villagers of the area, like Mawtari, Saisiej, Mawkynring, Lumkseh and Lum Diengsai.”
Syiem also added that the proposed sub-centre will provide healthcare to the residents at their doorstep.
“We urge the Health and Family Welfare Department to prepare an opening through a government scheme for the public who needs healthcare services nearer home,” he added.
