North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) celebrated its 26th foundation day yesterday.
Over the years, the corporation has provided loans to over 7000 projects in eight states of North-Eastern Region. It has also taken up several development initiatives through its CSR activities, a statement from NEDFi reads.
Several activities dedicated to the people of the region was organised to mark the occasion. To give exclusive support to entrepreneurs of Kamrup District, the corporation set up NEDFi Guwahati Branch in Dispur, in the NEDFi house premises.
The branch office was inaugurated by Assam Industry and Commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary. He also inaugurated a ‘Clearance Sale of Artisanal Products of NER at NEDFi house. The objective of this sale is to provide market linkage to artisans and weavers of North East Region under CSR initiative of NEDFi, where products of ASRLM Clusters and NEHHDC and artisans of NE will be available. The sale counter will remain open till September 8.
An MoU was also signed between NEDFi and Federation of Industries of North-Eastern Region (FINER) for promoting and nurturing entrepreneurship, generating employment and creating empowerment of weaker sections.
Select entrepreneurs were also felicitated and NEDFi also installed a time capsule in its premises, which is a historic cache of documents, photos, information etc. which is buried underground for intended discovery by future generations someday.
A virtual talk by C.S. Setty, Managing Director, SBI (Retail & Digital Banking) on the topic ‘Financial Inclusion and Digital Banking’ ended the celebration.
