Shillong, Aug 26: The Meghalaya state unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has appointed Dapkupar Nongrum as its general secretary with effect from August 25.
The appointment was made in the presence of the party’s national coordinator Sanjay Prajapati and president of the NCP Meghalaya women’s unit.
The NCP lost its last state legislator when Saleng Sangma (now Tura MP) left the party for the Congress. The NCP’s trajectory was in decline well before that, however, namely since Purno A Sangma and his family left to form the National People’s Party (NPP).
