Shillong, Aug 23: With no representation, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is attempting to re-establish its foothold in Meghalaya.
A state executive conference was convened by the party today in Sangsok under Tura constituency to discuss strengthening the party organisation.
NCP North-Eastern States convenor Sanjay Prajapati and State President O.K. Sangma, a former MLA, district, block, Mahila, and Yuva Morcha units attended the conference.
Discussions centered on strengthening the party organisation, addressing local issues, and outlining future strategies.
Prajapati stressed that the party’s base in Meghalaya was becoming stronger and urged members to engage directly with the people.
Sangma highlighted gaps in education, health, and employment in Tura and adjoining areas, calling on Yuva and Mahila Morcha workers to conduct awareness campaigns in rural regions.
The Mahila Morcha stressed the need for schemes promoting women’s empowerment through self-employment and skill development, while the Yuva Morcha pressed for policy changes to expand education and job opportunities.
Local leaders also raised concerns over infrastructure, unemployment, and environmental protection. District and block representatives discussed booth-level strategies, and Prajapati urged the use of digital platforms and social media for wider outreach.
