Heavy rains have forced the Indian Navy personnel to suspend the recovery operation at the Krem Ule mining disaster site in Umpleng, East Jaintia Hills.
Incessant rain has caused the water levels in the flooded mine to rise by 23 feet. In such wet conditions, the brake system of the crane used to lower personnel into the mine shaft will not work properly, which has forced the Navy to suspend diving in the main shaft for safety reasons.
