A two-day National Science Day celebration organised by the State Council of Science, Technology & Environment and supported by the National Council of Science, Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, concluded on March 23 under the Theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”.
NEHU vice chancellor Prof. P.S. Shukla graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Prof. G. Panda, Director of the National Institute of Technology.
The celebration saw the participation of members of the School Eco-Clubs from the different districts of the state, the Science & Maths Ambassadors, students from Chemistry and Life Science Department of NEHU, BSW Students from Martin Luther Christian University, B.Ed students from the College of Teachers Education (PGT), Shillong and primary students of Seven Set School.
Thirty-one meritorious students who passed the SSLC and HSSLC ISSLC examination 2020-21 with highest marks in Science and Mathematics were also felicitated during the programme with a cash award of Rs. 15,000 each.
The programme was marked by the display of many Science exhibits by scientific institutions, line departments and grass root innovators, science popular talk by eminent personalities, hands on science experiments and demonstrations, science model exhibitions, science skits, puppetry show, fancy dress, drawing/ painting competitions, quiz and extempore speech competitions were the other attractions during the two day programme.
Many schools from Shillong and adjoining area visited the stall exhibition and got the chance to learn and explore the many interesting science activities.
