The 80th round National Sample Survey (NSS) of the National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division) will commence from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.
The NSS is earmarked for collection of data for Social Consumption: Health and Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom, an official statement today said.
The survey on health aims to generate basic quantitative information on the health sector. A vital component is the information relevant to the determination of the prevalence rate of morbidity among various age-sex groups in different regions of the country.
The objective on Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom is to collect and provide information on telecom-related indicators and ICT skills to address the requirements of DoT, MeitY etc.
Meanwhile, a three-day regional training conference concluded on December 18 followed by field training on December 20 to impart training on concepts, definitions and procedures for collecting information on the subjects.
The data collected through this survey will be used by the central and state governments for development, planning and policy decisions.
“The success of the survey depends to a great extent on the quality of the response from the public. So, all are requested to co-operate with NSS field staff when they approach for survey work and provide correct and complete information,” NSO Deputy Director M. Nongrum urged.
The National Statistics Office is the primary data collection wing of the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation. The primary data is collected regularly through nationwide household surveys on various socio-economic subjects.
