Shillong, Feb 12: A national level monitoring team empanelled by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) arrived in Meghalaya today to review and assess the progress of various central sponsored schemes implemented by the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department.
The team comprising Dr. Mihir Mondal and Dr. Mahesh Katara will undertake field visits to East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and West Garo Hills districts to inspect project sites, interact with beneficiaries, and assess the ground-level impact of the schemes.
The five-day visit aims to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, ensure transparency and accountability, and provide constructive feedback for further improvement of livestock development programmes in Meghalaya.
The four existing schemes to be reviewed by the team are the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), and other allied livestock development initiatives.
A brief session was held today between the team officials of the department at the office of the Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, which was chaired by Director Dr A. Chyne in the presence of Dr. M.D. Sharma, (ISS) Deputy Director & Nodal Officer for Central Sector Schemes, along with senior departmental officers and representatives from implementing agencies.
