Eleven waheh shnongs under Narpuh Elaka in East Jaiñtia Hills district has said that they are not part of the 20 per cent reservation demand made by the Synjuk Waheh Shnong Ri Jaiñtia.
While extending their support to the demand for review of the State reservation policy the waheh shnongs in a statement today said, “We are giving our 100 per cent support to Bah Ardent for the future of our children.”
The waheh shnongs of Umkiang, Dona Skur, Pyrtakuna, Kuliang, Borsara, Sonapyrdi, Lumphyllut, Ratacherra, Umbluh, Umstain and Lahalein also said, “With regards to the demand made by the Synjuk Waheh Shnong Ri Jaiñtia we do not know and we are not part in dividing the jaitbynriew. We stand united as Khynriam u Pnar u Bhoi u War”.
Meanwhile, a similar statement has also come from 11 waheh shnongs of Iooksi Saphai area who rejected the demand made by the synjuk.
The waheh shnongs of Umdeinlin Iooksi, Iooksi Kyanmynsar, Saphai, Iawthymmei, Nongryngkoh, Pohkse, Madanrwai, Iooksi Iapkhla, Priang Iooksi, Sarhen and Iooksi Tongkiad too has offered their support to the Voice of the People Party’s demand to review the reservation policy.
They said they will not stand on the demand made by the synjuk which is divisive.
The Synjuk Waheh Shnong Ri Jaintia yesterday in a letter to cabinet minister and the Chairperson of the Committee on Reservation Roster, Ampareen Lyngdoh has demanded review of the reservation policy, with the consideration of Jaiñtia reservation for not less than 20 per cent share.
The synjuk also demanded implementation of the reservation roster from 2023 onwards.
