Meghalaya’s homegrown brand, ‘Na Kper: Home Garden’s Harvest’ bagged the Silver Innovations Award for their Lakadong turmeric and another brand, ‘Dalade’ made it to the top 10 for their ginger infused honey at SIAL India food expo.
The event, which is one of its first kinds in India in the B2B space, is jointly organised by InterAds Exhibitions, Comexposium and Vinexposium is being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi till December 11.
Meghalaya joins SIAL India as partner state for the second time and showcases 17 curated brands. The focus products are made from produce that is largely grown chemical free, harvested using traditional methods and then processed using ancient wisdom with a modern twist.
Lakadong turmeric, ginger, sticky rice varieties, honey, indigenous fruits products continue to be in focus but brands offering unique products like ginger infused honey, wild orange pickle, turmeric chocolates, jackfruit in brine and more are what is drawing the crowds to the Meghalaya Pavilion.
SIAL India was launched today by the Chief Secretary Rebecca Venessa Suchiang along with other dignitaries including Chairman APEDA, Dr. M Angamuthu, Deputy High Commissioner Embassy of Canada, A Strohan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy M Radosztics and Trade Commissioner and Director of Business France for South Asia Embassy of Paris, E Fajole and Commisionner & secretary, Dr D. Vijay Kumar.
