The Myntdu river continues to be under severe danger of being buried by mud and stones at Treiongriang and parts of Mulieh due to the ongoing construction of the Jowai Bypass.
The Jaiñtia Fishing & Environment protection Association members who inspected the river today found that gravel and soil are carelessly dumped into the river, a total disregard of the laws of the land.
This continues despite repeated orders under section 144 CRPC/163 BNSS to prevent dumping of the construction waste into the Myntdu, the leaders said.
The association has urged the Deputy Commissioner and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council to safeguard the health of Myntdu.
