Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School, which finished as runners-up in the U-17 boys Subroto Cup earlier this month in New Delhi, have been invited to participate in the second edition of an Indo-French football tournament.
Myngken Christian and the tournament winners, TG English School of Manipur, have been asked to take part by the Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society. The tournament will take place in Paris from November 25 to 30.
Congratulating the team, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “I have always had faith in the spirit and passion of our youth. The boys of Myngken Christian HS School have shown the nation a glimpse of this passion and I am happy to see them get to represent India in the city of the recently concluded Olympics, no less! I hope to see them grow from strength to strength, and see them grow into role models for others to follow!”
Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar Warjri said that the boys had shown their “athletic prowess” in the tournament and “It is a matter of pride for the state to see these players perform in an international arena and represent the country. We wish them all the very best and we are here to support them in whatever way they need.”
All relevant expenses will be borne by the DSYA for the Meghalaya school to take part in the Paris tournament.
