Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has shot down the recent claim of the leader of the opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma, that there has been an inordinate delay in appointing teachers to vacant posts in lower primary schools.
“The government has not delayed appointments to vacant posts in LP schools,” Rymbui told reporters. “Whatever allegation made by the leader of the opposition is completely wrong and not based on facts.”
His department is currently engaged in filling more than 1,000 teacher posts across the state, except in East Khasi Hills, where the interview stage is still being conducted. In Dadenggre subdivision, meanwhile, the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) has to be held again.
