Following the clamour for an investigation into the mysterious deaths of two Garo persons from Nagaland from the states of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Congress stalwart and leader of the Opposition in Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma has written to the union home minister, Amit Shah seeking a probe into the deaths.
Rose Sangma and her nephew, Samuel Sangma died within two days of each other with one succumbing to what is being suspected to be incorrect treatment and the other a murder that has been put forward as a suicide by Haryana police authorities.
In his letter sent yesterday, Mukul drew the attention of Amit Shah to ‘disturbing news’ being circulated on social media.
“This is regarding the reported filing of a FIR by late Samuel Sangma against the authority/management of Alpha Hospital, Basai, Gurugram for alleged medical negligence resulting in the death of his aunt, Rose Sangma on June 24 and the death of him the next day, June 25 under very mysterious circumstances,” said Mukul.
The former CM added that incidents of this nature and the perception generated thereof had serious negative ramifications and pose a serious challenge on peace, harmony and unity of the nation.
Mukul, through his letter has sought the intervention of the home minister into the matter so that justice can prevail.
Meanwhile, the Garo Development Council of Assam has also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the “shocking and disturbing” incident that questions the safety and security of the people of the North East in other parts of the country.
