Former Chief Minister and leader of the opposition Dr Mukul Sangma has a history of inaccurate predictions and his forecasts should be taken with a pinch of salt, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said today.
Recently, Dr Sangma, of the Trinamool Congress, said that National People’s Party (NPP) MLAs (of which Tynsong is one) will face anti-incumbency at the state elections next year.
Taking a dig at his former boss (from when the two were both in the Congress Party), Tynsong said that Dr Sangma had been overconfident himself in 2018 when anti-incumbency swept him out of power.
“As far as the election is concerned, the leader of the opposition should be more concerned about himself to survive because anti-incumbency happens everywhere. Be it as an MLA or MDC, anti-incumbency will be there but it depends on how one performs or works in their respective constituencies,” Tynsong stated.
