Shillong, Mar 10: Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against individuals linked to a video with claims about his involvement in giving approval to SG Estamur Mominin to file his nomination papers for the GHADC polls.
Dr. Sangma refuted these claims, stating that no such discussions or approvals occurred either from him or his representatives.
In his FIR, he pointed out that the spread of such misinformation could lead to serious social ramifications. He expressed his concern regarding the potentially dangerous narrative being propagated through the video.
According to Dr Sangma, in the said video Mominin is seen to be addressing a gathering of an unverified number of individuals after he was allegedly assaulted on Monday morning.
He said that the contents of Mominin’s speech contains “vitriolic election rhetoric” and considering the tense atmosphere regarding the participation of non-tribals in the district council elections the speech may have unwittingly or intentionally been given to provoke certain groups and promote disharmony amongst groups.
