The State government will soon go ahead with the delayed auctioning of extracted coal, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed today.
Sangma informed reporters that the delay in auctioning the coal was due to some issues related to the price of the coal.
“Earlier, the base price was too low, which would have meant that the miners and the mine owners would have lost out because the rate that Coal India Ltd had approved was uneconomical,” the Chief Minister said.
However, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has recently increased the base price, he added, and it is now feasible to carry out the auction.
