The Meghalaya Town Dorbar (MTD) today asked its residents and pressure groups to maintain peace and tranquillity while participating in agitations.
MTD chairman, S. D. Khongwir said, “Pressure groups in Mawlai before taking any decision on agitation programmes, they should ensure that it does not affect the peace and tranquillity.”
Khongwir said that members of the MTD who are senior citizens are responsible people and if they speak out anything it is with a sense of responsibility.
It may be mentioned that several stakeholders of Mawlai locality under the banner of ‘Ka Sur Ki Nong Mawlai’ (Voice of Mawlai) are spearheading a campaign to suspend the police officers who raided the house of ex-HNLC militant, Cherishterfield Thangkhiew at Mawlai Kynton Massar leading to his death on August 13.
