Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that a full-fledged chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) will be appointed in two weeks time.
The assurance was given to a delegation of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Wednesday who sought the intervention of the Chief Minister.
“We have requested the chief minister to speed up the process to appoint a full-fledged chairman of the MPSC,” PDF acting president and cabinet minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh told reporters.
He said the post of the chairman has been lying vacant for the past many months and this has to a great extent affected the functioning of the MPSC.
Asked, the minister said that the party has also expressed the need to appoint an eligible and capable person to the post, who will be able to revamp the functioning of the commission.
“We also want transparency should be there,” he said while pointing out that there have been instances where people in the past have questioned the recruitment process by the commission.
