Khliehriat, Sep 15: Bodies of a woman and her two children were found after they allegedly died by suicide at Green colony of Top Cement Company in Thangskai, East Jaiñtia Hills.
The deceased have been identified as Rippa Das (24), her 8-year-old and 3-year-old daughters.
The family was originally from Assam’s Katigorah under Cachar District.
Police said the husband, Apon Das (35), had left for work after lunch around 2 pm on September 14. He found the room they were living in locked when he returned at around 5: 50 pm.
With the help of the neighbours, he loosened a screw of the GI sheet attached to the door post to open the door only to find his wife hanging from a ceiling fan while his daughters were lying unconscious on the bed.
Police have taken custody of the bodies and further investigation is underway.
