More than 5.85 lakh people have been affected due to weather-related events since April 1, 2022 in Meghalaya, with 27 lives lost, State Disaster Management Authority informed today.
Since April 1 till date, 772 villages and 5, 85,999 people have been affected in the state. This has also led to a total of 27 human deaths and seven deaths of animals.
Eight persons went missing and a total of 20 people have also been reported injured.
The SDMA data also said incessant rains damaged 3,981houses, 258 of them fully and 89 severely. Public roads, houses, shops, schools and other infrastructure were damaged.
About 12-15 hectares of crops was deemed to have been affected by the bad weather since April 1, according to the SDMA.
