Just a day after another pressure group did a similar thing, the Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) today apprehended non-Khasi labourers from Assam in Mawlai Mawiong.
The HYC claimed that one of the consequences of the Covid-19 lockdown in East Khasi Hills is that labourers from outside the state are freely making their way into Meghalaya without anyone checking up on them.
“The government has restricted our movement from one village, locality and district while the non-Khasis from Assam are still reaching Meghalaya easily,” the HYC alleged.
