Shillong, Aug 20: Community and Rural Development Minister Abu Taher Mondal concluded his visit to the four blocks of South West Garo Hills on Tuesday evening.
Accompanied by Salmanpara MLA Ian Botham K Sangma, Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak and other officials, the minister inspected Rerapara, Betasing, Zikzak and Purakhasia blocks to get first-hand insights into the issues and challenges in their functioning.
Rangsakona MLA Subir Marak was also present during the inspection at Rerapara block.
Mondal also inspected the construction of new block office buildings at Rerapara and Zikzak, while at Purakhasia he inspected the land donated by Nokmas of the area for construction of a block office complex. In all the four blocks the minister also met and interacted with the local communities.
In a review meeting, Mondal discussed and assessed the performance of the blocks, vis-a-vis the implementation of MGNREGA and other central schemes with concerned officials and MLAs.
