Shillong, Apr 10: The Ministry of Food Processing Industries today convened a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee followed by the NIFTEM Council Meeting at Courtyard by Marriott here.
The meetings were chaired by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan in the presence of members of parliament, senior officers and other stakeholders.
During the meeting, the focus was placed on a comprehensive review of the food processing sector. The ministry presented an in-depth overview of ongoing reforms and policy initiatives aimed at strengthening the food processing industry. Members of the committee actively contributed with suggestions to enhance outreach and impact.
The NIFTEM council meeting deliberated on key institutional and policy matters relating to capacity building, research, and strengthening of the food processing ecosystem in the country. Members discussed ways to align institutional frameworks with industry requirements and emerging opportunities in the sector.
The minister reinforced the need for improved inter-ministerial coordination to facilitate easier business operations and enhance the sector’s overall productivity.
