The Department of Doctoral Studies and Research, MLCU today hosted the release of a book entitled, “Imbibing Traditional Values for Peace in the Contemporary Khasi Society” authored by Banpyrkhat Nongrang, a PhD scholar of the university.
The book is an outcome of Nongrang’s dissertation work which he completed during his Master’s programme in Conflict Management and Peace Initiatives in MLCU.
Former Deputy Director ICSSR NERC (Indian Council of Social Science Research North Eastern Regional Centre), Dr CJ Thomas released the book and reminded audience that one must be a compulsive writer and not just compulsive reader as individuals in academics.
He further added that a book as understood has a wider reach to general public and is an appropriate means to disseminate the outcome of a dissertation work.
Chancellor Dr Glenn Kharkongor congratulated the author who shared his experiences and struggles and despite all managed to publish the book. He added that many a time scholars and academicians have self-doubt and the publication of this book by a research scholar is encouraging as it translates the research work carried out into something more concrete and is available to the public at large.
The programme was also attended by VC Dr TK Kharbamon, Registrar Dr Iwamon Laloo, Dean Research, Deans of the university, faculty members and students.
