Meghalaya has upped the pace at which it is vaccinating people against Covid-19, with it taking just eight days to administer one lakh jabs.
According to data from the Health Department, it took 12 days for one lakh to be administered at the start of the month, but only eight days for the next one lakh. Altogether 9, 47,109 doses have been administered up until today, of which 2, 22,112 were given out this month.
The average number of immunisations given out every day has averaged 10,577 in July, well above the 7,700 figure for the month of June.
The government is hoping to boost the number to 20,000 to 25,000 per day in order to vaccinate the adult population by the autumn. However, the daily figures are still short of this, with 17,051 being administered yesterday, which was the second-highest single day figure.
