HBDRF chairman Chandame Sungoh told reporters that during the past elections in Meghalaya there have been reported threats or intimidation to the Khasis living along the inter-state border with Assam during polling and therefore the district administration should ensure the safety of voters.
He said the district administration of both the states will hold a video conference on February 14.
The forum also stated that residents of Labang Nongphyllut area have expressed their desire to remain within the jurisdiction of Meghalaya. The villagers have even refused development initiatives from Assam and boycott to vote during elections in Assam, he added.
