Shillong, Mar 25: Mawsynram legislator Ollan Sing Suin has lauded the efforts of the Border Security Force (BSF) and locals for their effective measures in countering infiltration in the constituency.
Speaking to the media today, Suin said the collaborative approach between the BSF and the people has played a crucial role in ensuring security in the area. “The village people are working closely with the authorities, providing valuable support in identifying and preventing potential threats,” he said.
Suin noted that despite the presence of porous areas along the border, such as rivers and streams, the BSF has been adept in monitoring these vulnerable points. He said, “The entire stretch is fenced, except for a few points like rivers and streams. However, the BSF is vigilant and proactive. I don’t see a significant threat from infiltration at present.”
In regards to village defense parties (VDPs), Suin pointed out that while they may not be formally organised, the local community’s active participation is noteworthy. “The youth are vigilant, and the entire village is working together to ward off any potential threats,” he stated.
